About us

The Highland Hamper Company began in 2005 from a passionate appreciation of the wonderful locally grown and produced food and wine from the Southern Highlands in NSW. 

“Paddock to Plate” wasn’t a phrase we really heard back then but it was developing naturally in the highlands. Award winning chefs, foodies, tree changers (like ourselves) were relocating to the area and trying to source seasonal local produce. When we couldn’t source enough we started growing it ourselves. Many highland cafes and restaurants had herb and veggie gardens out the back. Knowing where our food was coming from and eating it freshly picked became important.  

Since then the highlands has really become the foodie destination. We are now spoilt for choice with an array of producers and winemakers who not only use sustainable farming practices but the quality of the end product is of paramount importance. We had a “light bulb moment” when we realised that if we are using products in our hampers from producers that don’t compromise on quality (quite literally it is not in their DNA to produce anything that is not exceptional) we would have a unique business with a happy client base and be doing something we really love. 

Having the shops in Oxley Mall and Springetts Arcade Bowral over the last 12 years were invaluable in understanding our customers diverse hamper needs and wants .There is just no substitute for customer feedback and experience. When you asked us to include products no one locally was making we approached chefs and growers to help us out .We love that we still get calls saying “I have a crop of figs or tomatoes or plums etc… what can we make this time for your hampers?” Small made batches of freshly harvest produce -an unbeatable combination. 

Over recent years the requests for bespoke or customised hampers has kept us very busy. After several attempts at modifying our existing website we realised with the help of our lovely website designer that a new, easy to navigate, purpose built website was needed. We are thrilled with the resulting “Create Your Own Hamper” shopping cart section- just click and add products and we will pack and present them beautifully and deliver.  

The Southern Highlands has become a sort after conference destination due to our beautiful scenery ,wineries, restaurants and premium conference venues. We have gained much experience in creating and branding conference hampers. Coordinating and collaborating from the first email to the hand over with the venue event manager has become a seamless process. We couldn’t do any of this without a terrific team who work hard to get the hampers packed and dispatched on time. Their experience, attention to detail and large helping of commonsense are invaluable. We want you the buyer or recipient to be happy with our product and service.
